Start with the deliverable your workshop needs

The service name should describe the work you are requesting. A Stage 1 enquiry concerns calibration for the stated stock-hardware configuration; a Stage 2 enquiry needs the actual hardware specification. TCU files concern transmission software, while an individual option has its own technical scope. If the customer's brief combines these areas, identify them separately so the order can be discussed without assuming that one label includes everything.

The tuning-files guide brings those distinctions together. It is useful when planning a new workshop service or comparing a straightforward engine enquiry with a project that needs more development input. The original file, rather than a generic vehicle description, remains the basis for confirming the work.

Tools and files form part of the service choice

Tell us how you will obtain and write the data. Autotuner, KESS3, FLEX and K-TAG have different product configurations and protocol coverage; the relevant tool page helps you prepare the information for your enquiry. The controller, supported access method and Master or Slave arrangement still need to match the actual job.

This is worth resolving before a vehicle is booked for work outside your usual range. If you are selecting new equipment, describe the controllers and vehicles you expect to handle rather than choosing solely by the name of a tool. Keep the file-service connection and workshop equipment decision aligned.

Definitions and selectable maps are separate enquiries

Mapswitch requests should describe the intended calibration variants and desired switching method. DAMOS and WinOLS MapPack requests concern development definitions rather than a finished tuning file. Include the original BIN or ORI when asking about a definition so the software match can be checked. These services should not be assigned a price by extrapolating from a standard engine order. Use the appropriate service page, explain the required deliverable and confirm the scope before proceeding.
