Start with the file from the job

A useful enquiry begins with the unmodified output from your Autotuner session, rather than a file found under a similar vehicle name. Include the ECU identification and explain whether the read was obtained through OBD, Bench or Boot. If the vehicle arrived with an unknown tune, say so. The current software matters more than a model badge or advertised engine output.

Keep your original read and any recovery backup in separate, clearly named records. Upload the file relevant to the requested calibration and identify any additional files you are sending. This gives both sides the same starting point.

Master files and linked Slave containers

Autotuner Master and Slave outputs follow different handling paths. A Master calibration file can be supplied for editing, while a Slave output is encrypted for its linked Master. Send a Slave container exactly as the tool produced it. Extracting an archive or changing its extension does not turn it into an independent Master file.

Before the first order, explain your existing Master relationship and confirm the available route for processing and returning the file. We do not assume that uploading a container changes that relationship.

Choose the supported connection method

Autotuner provides OBD, Bench and Boot methods for supported controllers. OBD uses the vehicle diagnostic connection. Bench connects directly at the controller connector, while Boot work may require access to the opened unit. The correct method depends on the ECU variant and protocol, rather than on a general preference for one connection type.

Consult the current manufacturer coverage and the instructions shown in your software. Tell us about any required unlock or previous unlocking operation. The returned calibration needs to fit the actual read and write process; a familiar ECU family name alone does not establish that every operation is supported.

Define the calibration request

For a Stage 1 file, describe the stock configuration, fuel and intended use. For Stage 2, provide the installed hardware and the operating goal before development begins. A list of component changes is more useful than requesting the highest possible number. Include transmission information where the engine torque request needs to work with a separate gearbox strategy.

You can also enquire about supported TCU work, speed-limiter changes and Pops & Bangs. These are software-dependent services, not features enabled simply by owning an Autotuner. Mapswitch has its own ECU compatibility list and enquiry process. Ask about the exact variant before including a switching function in a customer quotation.

Keep the portal order technically complete

Use the customer portal to bring the original file, identification and specification together. Record the read method, tool type, engine and transmission, relevant hardware changes and any existing fault information. If something is unknown, mark it as unknown rather than filling the gap with another vehicle’s details. Clear records are particularly valuable when several vehicles of the same model are in the workshop.

Keep the delivered version with that order and use it only for the agreed controller and writing procedure. This allows a later question to refer to a defined calibration instead of an uncertain local filename.

Validate the result and request a revision

The workshop checks the vehicle after writing. Diagnostic findings and a description of the observed operating condition help distinguish a calibration question from an unrelated mechanical or electrical problem. When sending logs, keep the raw recording and identify the file version, fuel, hardware and test conditions.

Continue the discussion in the original portal order. Explain what changed between runs and avoid combining results from different configurations. A revision can then address a reproducible observation while preserving the history of the job.

Arrange equipment and credit-based ordering

If you are choosing an Autotuner or changing how your workshop operates, discuss the vehicle mix and Master or Slave arrangement before purchase. Equipment selection and calibration ordering are related decisions, but they are not the same product. A supported read method still needs the correct software and an appropriate file-service request.

Our price page lists the current services and credit structure. Check the selected base service and any additional options there, then submit the actual original file through the portal. For help choosing a device and file exchange route, use the flasher enquiry page.

Questions about this service

Can you work with an Autotuner Slave file?

Send an enquiry with the original encrypted container and details of the linked Master. The handling route must be confirmed before processing; the upload itself does not transfer the tool to a different Master.

Does a listed vehicle guarantee every option?

No. ECU identification, software, file content and intended use determine the technical scope. Check current tool coverage with Autotuner and confirm the calibration request with us.
